The human size of the university facilitates interdisciplinary research and valuable interactions between scientists from different disciplines.
Other public or private research laboratories are also established in the immediate vicinity, thus completing the research offer based at the University's sites (CRM, AMLR, PIMW, ISSEP, SIRRIS, CEWAC, CRA, etc.).
Gesval works in close collaboration with RISE (Research, Innovation, Support and Enterprises) of the University of Liege. This team is in charge of the management of university research and the transfer of knowledge from research units, notably through the setting up and administrative implementation of projects, the detection of valuable research results, their protection and support for their maturation and marketing.
Gesval is then responsible for transferring university research to the economic sphere and for developing it while ensuring the intellectual protection of the discoveries (management of patents and licences).
Gesval calls on specialized partners for intellectual property (Réseau LiEU), project setup and support (Eklo), in collaboration with Noshaq) and seed capital for spin-offs (Noshaq SPIN-OFFS sa, a subsidiary of Noshaq and Gesval).
New spin-offs can be accompanied in their first years of existence by specialized incubators such as WSL.
